There are scored lines made by my marking gauge on the tenon to which I use my rabbit plane to make the dimension exact after first using using the paring chisel. This plane has a 'skewed' blade which is set at a 25* angle to cut a glass smooth surface. The 18th century spelling of this plane is 'rebate' pronounced rabbit. >
