Connecticut Shell Top Corner Cupboard. The ninth Shell Top from my shop since 1984

Presented at Historic Deerfield in October, 2021. I've been presenting / demonstrating at Historic Deerfield for the past twenty years as part of their " Hands on History - Made by Hand - Trades of the Past" programs showing all aspects of the Joyners and Cabinetmakers trade. This year I showed this Shell Top Corner Cupboard in progress. I was carving rosettes, shaping and carving one of the curved mouldings above the door, and planeing the flutes in the pilasters. This cupboard is a copy of the original, circa 1750, found in a house in Scotland, Ct. that was purchased and installed in the home of Nina Fletcher Little in Ipswich, Ma. I am enhancing some details as a cupboard of this stature was wanting !
