A New London / Ct. River Valley pipe box in cherry, ca 1760, from the collection at Old Sturbridge Village, Ma. The wave shaped scolloped sides are a dead give away to the shaping of ogee bracket footed chests from the New London, Ct. area. The quatrefoil design is from Wethersfield, and the hearts and pinwheel are seen throughout the Ct. River Valley. 1980. Glastonbury, Ct.
I've made several of these in cherry and curled maple, its hard to choose. At one point I had one of each.
