A good pairing of a W&M easy chair and Spanish foot tavern table, ca 1720 - 1740, perhaps both by John Gaines of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and both painted with black milk paint, and linseed oil, and or shellac, then beeswax. Both made in 1989. Rutland County, Vt.
